Introductory Workshop for Centering Prayer
Most of us pray earnestly asking God to grant our prayers according to His loving mercy. God speaks to us in many ways, but perhaps we can hear Him best, when we are silent and not focused on the constant conversation in our heads. Many of us think of eastern religions, monks or monasteries when we think of silent mediation. Christianity has a long tradition of contemplative meditation. Centering prayer is a form of prayer which serves to renew the Christian contemplative practice in our daily lives. It is based on the format of the profound form of prayer that Jesus suggests in Matthew 6:6: “If you want to pray, enter your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you”.
